To provide the Norwegian Armed Forces with dog equipment and arctic clothing, Non-stop defense was established in 2021. Its origins lie in the company Non-stop dogwear, founded in Norway in 2009. This company produces and sells performance gear for active dogs and humans worldwide. Their story begins with their talented dog Hårek who competed in skijoring. They witnessed a difference in his cheetah speed during free running and running with a harness. Since they couldn’t find a harness at that time that didn’t restrict Hårek, they started inventing their own. After that, they knew that they had to share this with other owners and their dogs.
A cooperation with K9 operator Per Kristian Bruun followed soon after his request to Non-stop dogwear to produce a special edition of dog jackets for the Norwegian Armed Forces. He was already familiar with Non-stop dogwear’s products in his free time with his hunting dogs. Soon after his request a wide range of dog gear and arctic clothing for humans were included.
Bruun, CEO of Non-stop defense, comes from a 15-year career as a K9 handler in the Norwegian Armed Forces. Today, Non-stop defense has more than 10 years of experience with developing dog gear and arctic clothing. The process of product development is ongoing. For them, a product is never complete. One of the reasons the cooperation of Non-Stop Defense with the army, police, and working dogs has been successful is the resemblance in needs compared to dog mushers. Both need protection from extreme temperatures when lying or standing still, while also having the option to adjust the temperature when suddenly being on the move is required.
