The Beretta M9A3 series is a modern iteration of the iconic Beretta M9, which has been a standard sidearm for the U.S. military for decades. The M9A3 introduces several enhancements, including design and material, resulting in increased modularity, reliability, durability, and ergonomics.

In response to military feedback, Beretta has developed the latest addition to the M9 family, the M9A3 9mm pistol. The M9A3 incorporates all the essential features modern combat professionals need for demanding environments. Designed to meet the performance expectations of military, law enforcement, and civilian users, the M9A3 delivers superior reliability and versatility.

The Beretta M9A3 is chambered in 9mm, measures 8.7 inches, and weighs approximately 33 ounces (empty). It features a 5-inch barrel and has a maximum capacity of 17 rounds. The M9A3 has improved ergonomics by featuring a thinner Vertec-style grip, which offers a more natural and comfortable hold, making it suitable for a wider range of hand sizes. The M9A3 has the Vertec style grip, but it also comes with wraparound style grip panels that mimic the shape and feel of the original M9. The interchangeable wraparound grips provide additional customization for the user. The back strap is also checkered for a more positive grip.

An oversized magazine release button achieves enhanced controls, making it easier to access and operate, even with gloves.

Also, the Beretta M9A3 slide can be converted from “FS” to “G” mode, changing the safety/de-cocker into de-cocker-only operation. The levers are off-center to minimize accidental activation of the safety lever when racking the slide.

Furthermore, the gun comes with a chrome-lined threaded barrel, allowing for the easy attachment of suppressors and other muzzle devices, enhancing its tactical versatility. An integral 3-slot Picatinny rail under the barrel enables the attachment of lights, lasers, and other accessories.

The sand-resistant magazines ensure reliable performance even in harsh, sandy environments. With a capacity of up to 17 rounds, they offer an improvement over the original M9’s 15-round maximum. The handgun’s slightly beveled magazine well allows for quick and easy removal and insertion of the magazine, facilitating faster reloads in the field. A Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Coating on the barrel and slide enhance corrosion resistance and wear.

Its high-visibility, three-dot sight system is also a valuable feature, as it provides better accuracy in low-light conditions.

The standard caliber for the M9A3 is 9mm, offering a balance of stopping power and manageable recoil. The standard magazine capacity is 17 rounds, with options for extended magazines.

The Beretta M9A3 series is designed for both military and civilian use, offering enhancements that make it suitable for a variety of applications, including self-defense, tactical operations, and competitive shooting. Its combination of reliability, accuracy, and modern features has made it a popular choice among firearm enthusiasts and professionals alike.

The M9A3’s design allows for significant customization. The ability to change grips, add accessories, and utilize different types of ammunition (thanks to the threaded barrel) provides users with a highly adaptable platform that can be tailored to specific needs and preferences. The Beretta M9A3 series represents a significant evolution of the M9, incorporating modern enhancements while maintaining the reliability and performance that the Beretta brand is known for.
